You can purchase interim medical insurance for you and your family while you are waiting to qualify for OHIP following a lengthy absence from Canada. There is a 90-day waiting period before you will be eligible for OHIP.
Check the OHIP information below for more details and be sure to get personal medical insurance in the meantime. Hospitals in Ontario can cost $3,000 for 1 night ... plus doctors' fees. Don't leave yourself unprotected!

While we recommend that you purchase your medical insurance before you arrive, you still qualify for coverage after you are here, following a 48 hour waiting period for illness coverage. Accident coverage begins immediately. No waiting period applies when coverage is purchased prior to arrival.
